Serious question: Have you seen Shape Magazine’s April cover? Olivia Wilde is killing it a year after giving birth—in a bra no less! *Insert heart face emoji here*
The honest actress wrote her own feature all about motherhood with son Otis and the struggles she and women all over the world share with trying to stay in shape. She’s
not perfect—she admits it—but it’s important to remember to treat your mind and body well for a healthy life.
It may not look like it, but the new mom explains that she’s “softer” than she appears in her spread. The right angles and good lighting make all the difference. “The truth is, I’m a mother, and I look like one,” she writes.
Olivia also tells Shape readers that she loved being pregnant. Her experience was mostly trouble-free seeing as how she stayed strong throughout—workouts like Pilates and SoulCycle helped her avoid common pregnancy issue like sciatica.
It was also difficult for the 31 year-old to keep up her fitness routine after giving birth—she made it six months postpartum exercising but Physique 57 wasn’t enough to lure her away from her new little man.
Here’s a snippet of what she had to say:
“Listen, baby or no baby, getting out of the house to exercise is a serious achievement. If you’re going to haul your behind to a class, it’s not going to be for anyone else; not your partner, nemesis, mother, or tabloid bloggers — just you. And your special relationship with your own damn fat cells. For me, the bottom line (pun intended) is that the workout is fun.”
