The treadmill may be your BFF, but what happens when you aren’t seeing results on the scale? Not such a great match after all huh? Wrong!
These common mistakes could be hindering your weight loss:
You don’t go hands free: Holding on to the rails may feel like the safe route, but letting go is your best bet. Since it’s harder, going hands free will help you burn more calories and you’re supposed to be working your upper body too! If you still feel uneasy, try slowing your speed until you get comfortable with the newfound freedom. A quick tip: always keep your abs engaged to help with your balance.
You don’t push yourself: Catching up on the latest celebrity gossip is all well and good, but that’s not why you’re at the gym. The many distractions that come along with your gym visits are probably hindering your full workout potential. If you want to see results, you’ll have put the tabloid down and stop gossiping with your gym buddy.
You don’t change your routine: Same old, same old. While having a successful workout routine is great, changing things up won’t hurt. If you don’t vary your workouts, you probably won’t see anything happening at weigh in. Try setting your pace a little faster or adjusting the incline on the machine to make things a little harder.
You tense up: Running on the treadmill can be a tough workout and hard on your body, but it’s important to remember to relax. Tensing up will effect your form and you won’t get the most out of the exercise. It may not be the same as running outside, but not crowding the front of the treadmill can help reduce neck, shoulder, and lower back pain that can keep you from sticking to your gym routine.
