Vacation is a time for rest and relaxation, but remember, it’s not a time to throw your hard work out the window. By mixing a little poolside downtime with a few fun activities, you can stay on track while still enjoying your trip with friends and family.
Participate In Resort Activities: This is a fun way to get your body moving daily! If you’re staying at resort, anything from beach volleyball and water aerobics to basketball and dance lessons can keep you on the move. Don’t be afraid to try something new and just have fun. Not only will it feel liberating, but you will also burn a few calories and may make new friends at the same time.
Utilize The Hotel Gym: Depending on the hotel, most gyms are equipped with all of the basics that will allow you to get a decent workout. It’s a great place to take advantage of weight machines, stability balls and cardio machines. Save the running for the outdoors by running on the beach. It’s an amazing challenge and the Vitamin D from the sun is a fantastic mood booster!
Pack Your Gym: If you’re accommodations are bare bones and more rustic, you will want to pack a few workout essentials before leaving home. Easy items that you can bring are resistance bands, a jump rope and weight training gloves. From mountain climbers and overhead press with resistance bands to jump rope drills, you can easily workout in your hotel room or outside while soaking up some sun.
Explore: Pack a pair of comfortable sneakers or hiking shoes and get familiar with your surroundings. Do a bit of research prior to arriving and map out the areas that are ideal for a hike or walking tour. Always have water on hand and for added intensity, you can always slap on a pair of ankle weights if you can spare the room in your luggage.
Water Workout: Wallowing in the water like a dead fish sure is relaxing, but why not take advantage of the water resistance and tone up while sipping on your favorite fruity beverage? Experiment with bicycles under water and leg lifts (front, side and back) to sculpt your lower body. For your arms and back, good old fashion laps in the pool will do!
