As much as we love cereal paired with milk to start our mornings, it needs to scoot over.
If you’re looking to lose a few pounds this breakfast staple could be just the thing you need. We know it might sound a little farfetched, but hear us out.
A small study found that people who ate oatmeal daily for six weeks had a larger decrease in cholesterol levels and waist size than those who ate the same amount of noodles during the same time period. Aside from that benefit, if you choose oatmeal for breakfast you’ll end up more satisfied—and less likely to reach for a snack mid-morning.
Rolled oats also only take about 10 minutes to prepare—and are healthier than the instant oats you’re used to. They come with no added sugars you find in flavored packs. There is also the option of overnight oats that require you to prep a little the night before and are ready to go from the fridge the next morning.
And don’t worry, oatmeal is super simple to spice up. You can liven up your warm breakfast by adding your favorite fruits, honey, nuts and more. My personal favorite: adding in a little cinnamon.
