Aging is inevitable whether we like it or not. At some point we will begin to see a few wrinkles here and there, but what many women are afraid of is anything happening to their hair.
Gray hairs and thinning locks are two of the most tell-tale signs that your hair is getting older. There are at least seven indicators in total that we seem to ignore or just associate with bad hair care/habits.
As you age, your scalp produces less natural oils which are essential to maintaining moisture. This can lead to:
-
Dry hair
-
Breakage
-
Split ends
-
Frizz
-
Dull hair color
-
Grays
-
Thinning
Although we probably won’t be able to stop these things from happening altogether, there are ways to keep your healthier for longer. Try changing your diet with these five foods for healthier hair:
1. Walnuts
Nuts are great for fighting hair loss. They have oils which contribute to the elastin in your hair that contributes to the growth.
2. Spinach
Iron deficiency is the second cause of hair loss, and the easiest to treat! Spinach is rich in minerals and vitamins — iron, beta carotene, folate and vitamin C — which keep hair follicles healthy and scalp oils circulating.
3. Carrots
Carrots are rich in beta carotene, which the body turns into vitamin A. When it comes to your hair, vitamin A helps produce scalp-sustaining oils.
4. Greek Yogurt
A lot of at-home hair mask recipes have Greek yogurt in them for a reason. Low-fat versions have vitamin B5 and vitamin D which are linked to hair and follicle health.
5. Eggs
Vitamin D is really good for your hair. Eggs — the whole egg mind you — are a good source for this vitamin.
