We’re all about the gym life, but for many of us it can put major stress on our tresses.
Too-tight pony tails and over washing can leave your strands brittle and breakage-prone. Don’t worry, this doesn’t mean you have to skip your workout (phew!).
Before you throw your hair into your normal pony/topknot, give it a little T.L.C. with these three helpful tips:
1. Loosen up your hairstyle
The ponytail is a go-to style for many of us no mater what your fitness routine is; but tying it way too tight can break strands mid-shaft, which then lead to annoying flyaways. To avoid this, try tying your hair back with the newly popular stretchy ribbon elastics. They can be found at any drugstore with many big name brands selling them as well. They end the dreaded ponytail crease and are loose enough to prevent breakage but still strong enough to keep your style from falling out. Plus, they come in a variety of colors and prints.
2. Avoid over washing
It’s hard not to shower up after sweaty workout sesh, shampooing too much can dry out your locks and strip it of its essential oils. Not shampooing your hair for a day or too can actually be really good for it. If you’re still not comfortable, try the dry shampoo route. We suggest Dove Style+Care Invigorating Dry Shampoo that works just as well as the real thing.
3. Use your sweat to style
OK I know it sounds gross, but trust me! Your sweat can provide the necessary grip your hair will need to be styled. By not using any hot tools and sticking to simple hairstyles, you can give your strands a breather and still look cute. Try pulling it into a loose side braid or twist bun and pair it with a colorful headband. Your gym to everyday activities will be that much easier!
