If you’re looking for a fun, inexpensive way to stay out of the rain this weekend, come check out the Second Annual NYC Vegetarian Food Festival! It’s taking place on both Saturday and Sunday, March 3-4, 2012, 10:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m. at the Metropolitan Pavilion, located at 125 W. 18th St. (between 6th and 7th Ave.) in Manhattan. Admission is only $5! Lucille Roberts is proud to be one of the sponsors of the event.
There are lots of activities to choose from at the festival! You don’t have to be a vegetarian–or even considering vegetarianism–to attend. Rather, the it’s an educational event and an opportunity to celebrate nutritious eating! Ironman triathlete Brendan Brazier will be one of the featured speakers (Saturday at noon). He’ll explain how a plant-based diet helped him win 2 Canadian ultramarathon championships in 2003 and 2006. There will be many other speakers, cooking demonstrations (hello, vegan cheesecake!), and even belly dancing classes. Families welcome! See the full schedule here.
For the Saturday night special event from 6:00 p.m.-9:15 p.m., tickets must be purchased separately (they’re $20 each). The evening includes a documentary screening and a concert by Brooklyn band Dynasty Electric.
Come celebrate veggies with us! You’re likely to learn new ways of incorporating them into your diet!
