The warm weather will be here before you know it and we can’t wait! Besides packing away your tights and tall boots, you’ll want to make sure you are fully prepared to show off your “stems.” Try these three leg toning exercises and you’ll be ready to rock those short shorts come Memorial Day weekend:
Jump Squats: This exercise will really get your blood pumping! Stand with your feet shoulder width apart in preparation to do a traditional squat. Start performing a squat as normal then engage your core to explosively jump in the air. When landing, return back into squat position (land as softly as possible). Do 2 -3 sets of 10 reps.
Split Squat: Start in standing position, jump into a split leg position keeping one leg forward and one leg in the back. While performing this action, flex your knees and lower your hips slightly. As you descend quickly reverse the direction by standing back up and jumping reversing the position of the legs. Repeat 8-12 times on each leg.
Calf Raises: This exercise can easily be done with or without a machine. Stand shoulder width apart with the balls of your feet on a step or curb (heels hanging off). While keeping your knees soft and unlocked, slowly lower your heels below the step/curb and slowly lift your heels back up. The same action can be done without the step (perfect while waiting on line or brushing your teeth!). Do 3-4 sets of 12 reps.
