Meet Migdalia Rivera of LatinaOnAMission.com! She’s one of our Makeover Bloggers and has been training at our 42nd St. gym. Here’s an update on her progress.
My name is Migdalia Rivera, but I’m known around the web as @MsLatina. I’m one of the newest Lucille Roberts Makeover Bloggers.
When I was approached by Lucille Roberts, I was ecstatic. I was at a place in my life where I knew I needed to make some lifestyle changes. I had recently turned 40, quit my job, and started my own business. I needed energy if I wanted to succeed. I also needed the confidence-booster. I felt and looked frumpy. I could no longer say I had Latinalicious curves; they were straight-up chichitos/love handles! I needed a makeover, and Lucille Roberts was the place to get it. They provided me with a nutritionist, a trainer, and usage of their gym. I was excited! I was and am a Latina On a Mission – the name of my blog, btw!
I have to admit, it hasn’t been easy. Over the last four weeks, I’ve had to cancel 2 sessions because of client meetings. I also avoided keeping a food journal like the plague. I was sabotaging my own progress! Yet, eventually I got into the swing of things. I listened to my nutritionist and made some small changes. The changes were small enough to lead me in the right direction, without making me feel deprived. I also started tracking my calories with my phone. This kept me accountable.
I’ve also been meeting with a Lucille Roberts trainer twice a week. Our sessions have been INTENSE. I leave feeling sore but accomplished. I’m sure its because I’m becoming reacquainted with muscle groups I haven’t used in ages! Thankfully, BENGAY and a long, hot shower does wonders for relieving those aches.
When I started the program, my goals were to lose 30 lb., to get more energy, and to tone up. After 4 weeks, I’ve lost 7 lb.! I didn’t hit my 10 lb. goal, but I’m heading in the right direction. I feel stronger. I feel energized. And best of all, I’m no longer fighting myself. Weight loss is a decision. I’m choosing to lose the weight for ME, because I’m worth it…and so are you!
Let’s talk! What is/was the biggest obstacle you had in getting to the gym?
