The winter weather isn’t only harsh on our homes, cars, and gear, it’s also a pain for our skin. From dry, crackly skin to scaly elbows and feet, the cold can put huge damper on your days.
So, rather than spending an arm and a leg on expensive products, try a few of these easy-on-your-wallet tricks to ease your skincare woes this winter.
- Coconut oil: Seriously, what can’t coconut oil do? This go-to moisturizer for many is especially useful during the winter months. When you’re ready for bed, lather liberally over your hands, paying extra attention to your nails and cuticles, top them off with cotton gloves, and get some shut eye.
- Sesame oil: Working similarly to coconut oil, sesame oil can work wonders as a moisturizer—especially for your feet. Start by massaging the oil well on to your feet, slip on some socks, and relax and drink some soothing tea.
- Soak in oil: If your skin is dry and itchy, your best bet may be to actually soak in oils. Sweet almond and jojoba oils not only soothe itchy winter skin, but their aromas are super-soothing for an exhausted mind. All you need is a few drops added to your nightly bath!
