It’s no doubt that tennis stars/sisters Serena and Venus Williams are amazing athletes and have bodies we envy (#lifegoals). Serena already has a Nike Training Club Core Power workout, but we can’t forget Venus.
The older of the two beauties, Venus has gone on to win seven Grand Slam titles in her career making her a force to be reckoned with. Venus and her trainer, Samantha Monus caught up with our friends over at LiveStrong for a little chit chat on how the racket star stays fit.
1. Change up your workouts: While going to the gym is encouraged, Venus isn’t the biggest fan of using machines. Instead, she varies her sweat sessions by focusing on full body workouts—such as plyometric routines, swimming and sprints.
2. Eat for energy: Even as a vegan, Venus still packs in the protein before a workout. She opts for plant-based protein shakes, beans or nuts to sustain her energy and consumes 200 calories within 30 minutes after exercising. Monus also explains that Venus “balances the right proteins to keep her sustained throughout the day.”
3. Motivate yourself:
Staying on track with your fitness goals is a key part to your success. Monus tells LiveStrong “When you feel good, you look good.” she suggests spending a few minutes each day visualizing your goals and imagining what it would feel like to reach them.
