Don’t let breakouts put a damper on your regular exercise routine. Sweating should make you feel good as a sign that you’re working hard not something to avoid.
Fitness gurus produce more dead skin cells than the average person, and those dead skin cells trap oil and dirt that can lead to acne. It’s not something to look forward to after your workout.
Keep up the great work by exercising and having flawless skin with these post workout skin cleansing tips:
1. Cleanse Before & After Working Out
Many of us make sure we cleanse our skin after working out, but it is also recommended that you do so before exercising too. Avoid using harsh soaps and opt for a facial cleanser formulated to remove deep down oil and sweat without drying the skin.
2. Go Bare
Skip out on applying your makeup for the gym. You want your skin to be able to breathe while you’re working out or else you’ll end up with majorly clogged pours. If you must, try putting on a tinted moisturizer rather than all those heavy products.
3. Exfoliate
You are a dedicated fitness guru, it is recommended to exfoliate as often as you can. There is no need to spend money on expensive products either. After you apply your cleanser to your skin first using your hand, use a washcloth in a gentle circular motion with light pressure for about two to three minutes.
4. Keep Your Hair Off Your Face
It is always a good idea to keep your hair tied back and out of your face while exercising. It will not only keep you focused, but you may be able to avoid potential breakouts as well. Grease and sweat can accumulate in your hair and your pores may end up sucking it up.
5. Change Your Clothes Pronto
It may seem self explanatory, but showering and putting clean clothes on post workout is important. Many of us spend hours running errands and sitting around in sweating clothes that could be contributing to breakouts by keeping sweat and bacteria close to your skin. It’s a serious no no!
