Oil pulling has become all the rage with health and beauty junkies these days. So what’s the big deal?
An ancient Ayurvedic dental technique, oil pulling involves swishing a tablespoon of oil in your mouth on an empty stomach for around 20 minutes. Doing so is said to draw out toxins in your body, primarily to improve oral health but also to improve your overall health.
Many people choose to use coconut oil, which has many other beneficial uses, or other vegetable based oils.
Some of the reported health benefits include:
- Whiter teeth
- Alleviation of headaches and hangovers
- Improvement in skin issues such as acne and psoriasis
Both Lauren Conrad and Fashionista have featured this growing trend with mixed reviews. After a little more research, I feel like I should give it a go. Will you?
