The fitness world is always changing—advancing to make exercise easier to accomplish. And with the New Year right around the corner, new trends are already emerging.
So if your goal for 2015 is to lose however many pounds or to get to the gym more often, you’ll probably see one of the new fitness crazes around:
1. HIITs – Yep, these intense workouts are here to stay! If you haven’t heard of this type of workout, HIIT stands for High Intensity Interval Training—you go really hard for a set amount of time at a particular exercise, than recover for a set amount of time and repeat. Sessions are usually 30 minutes or less. This exercise method is still hot and it’s at LR! The LR Digital Team found out first hand just how intense these classes can be…
3. Short workouts – I mean, who has time to work out anymore (cue the HIIT classes), but seriously? Shorter workout periods are on the rise for 2015. You’ve seen the commercials on TV—sometimes less is more. Those one hour gym sessions are getting a serious cutback, and we mean BIG time. You’re going to see more 20, 30, even 14 minute workouts from here on out. Why, you ask? You end up pushing your body harder when you’re on a set time limit.
4. Body weight training – Machines are all well and good, but our reliance on them is staggering. Many times people don’t even read the directions on the correct way to use them—tisk, tisk! In an effort to avoid relying on that heavy metal, more and more people are turning to body weight training. This type of exercise uses back-to-basics exercises such as push-ups and lunges, and guess what? It’s free!
