3 Gym Pet Peeves Every Fitness-Lover Understands

By Catherine Mendez @CathJMendez · On December 22, 2014

Fitness fans know all too well the right gym etiquette to have during your sessions. But then again, there are always those people who aren’t familiar—the gym-goers that end up messing with your workout flow.

Gym Pet Peeve 1From gym hygiene to common courtesy, if you’ve ever wanted to call out someone for these annoyances, you’ll be able to understand.

1. Using a machine only to watch TV. Don’t get me wrong, I love those SATC reruns as much as the next girl. But when you’re more focused on whether or not Carrie will choose Aidan or Big than working hard on the treadmill, there’s a problem. Don’t be THAT girl who holds up another person’s fitness–you have your couch for that!

2. Not wiping down the equipment. Gym’s leave the disinfectant spray out for a reason, people! Don’t be lazy and leave your sweaty mess for someone else to clean up–that’s how germs spread. Do everyone else a favor and wipe down your machine after use.

3. Never putting down your smart phone. It’s one thing to use your phone to listen to music while exercising, but answering text messages and taking phone calls while lifting weights or during a class is not OK. Don’t disrupt your fellow gym-goers—you can tend to your phone later!
