With winter basically here, all you probably want to do is snuggle upon the couch with some hot cocoa. But don’t let these lazy urges stop you from getting your fitness on!
You’re not the only one who can’t always muster up the motivation to exercise—it happens to us all. New research proves that even if you’re not feeling your daily gym visit, you should go anyway. Even this “forced” type of exercise can be a stress-reliever compared to you just going voluntarily.
So if you need a little help getting off the couch, here are a few ways to get you moving:
1. Schedule a personal training session – Some people need a bigger commitment than just going to the gym. That’s where personal trainers come in! Why will this help get you out of the house you ask? Personal training sessions need to be scheduled in advance with someone expecting you to be there can be more of a motivation than just going. This will also help you improve your exercise skills with an expert by your side.
2. Get a work out buddy – Consider bringing your BFF along the next time you go to the gym—same concept but not as costly. Knowing you have a friend waiting for you there or even just to go for a run can help pull you out of your lazy funk. You can even give yourselves a weekly treat after a great workout—go out for a healthy smoothie or a light shopping spree.
3. Splurge on cool workout gear – Gym clothes these days can cost a pretty penny if you don’t know where to find the cheaper stuff. But who says you can’t splurge a little here and there? We’re not saying go out and buy out the whole Lululemon store, but you can gift yourself a nice pair of running pants or sneaks to give yourself more incentive to go to the gym.
