Also known as a Thanksgiving Turkey Trot, many choose to start off the yummy holiday with a little 5K. Ha, you probably think those who do that are out of their minds—Thanksgiving is a time to spend with your loved ones while enjoying delicious food. We get it!
But what if you made it a family affair? Have we caught your attention yet? On average, Thanksgiving dinner can add up to 1,200 to 2,500 calories easy (!). Getting in a little exercise in before chowing down can actually do you some good. And, you’re actually more likely to feel satisfied more easily and not as prone to eat a ton if you’ve worked out prior to the meal.
Come on, any fitness activity is a good thing—especially before you’re about to eat a large meal. Running a 5K is a great way to challenge yourself, and then have a wonderful reward after you finish!
