Only the serious, fitness-obsessed people use heart rate monitors and other tech, right? Wrong! You don’t have to be an exercise expert to take advantage of the all wearable tech—and heart monitors are especially something you should invest in.

A heart rate monitor is a device which tracks your heart rate as you exercise so you can study the records later. Convenient huh? But there are other benefits to using this device. Read on to find out more!

1. Monitor your health

Heart monitors are much more then just heart rate trackers—they can also keep you updated on your health in general. Using it you can detect any healthy problems you may have and may not have known otherwise. For example, if you see your heart rate spiking even while doing light exercise, that could be a sign of a bigger health issue.

Losing weight is a primary goal for many of us, and using a heart rate monitor can help you achieve that goal even faster. Health and fitness experts believe that in order to effectively lose weight, you need to raise your heart rate to as much as 70 percent of your maximum heart rate for at least 30 minutes. By doing short intervals of higher-intensity exercise (try our HIIT classes!) will ensure that you are burning body fat and not just the meal you ate earlier in the day.

3. Discipline and motivation

If losing weight isn’t enough motivaion for you, maybe you need a trainer. We don’t mean spending your dollars on an actual trainer either—a heart rate monitor is a good alternative! It will tell you when your exercise is falling below your ideal intensity so you can instantly improve your performance.
