Iliana Hernandez, who turns 30 next week, has worked for Lucille Roberts for 11 years. She started at the front desk at Lucille Roberts Astoria and now works as an Executive Assistant in the corporate office. In January of this year, she decided it was time to lose weight, and just this week, she hit her goal of dropping 47lbs! Here’s her story!
Lucille Roberts: What made you decide to start working hard to lose weight?
Iliana Hernandez: I got tired of being fat. I’m 5’5″, and nine months ago I weighed 186 lb. and was a size 13/14. I felt fat, lazy, and tired. Every year, I psyched myself out and said, “This is the year! I will lose weight this year for sure.” However, it never worked for me because I wasn’t focused; I didn’t have the drive to reached my goal. This year, I said, “Enough is enough. I need to go back to the weight I was at before I had my son.” Little did I know, I had had the ability to do so all along!
I decided to change my eating habits and to add a workout routine to my schedule. I made time in my schedule. All it took was 1.5 hours a day, 4 times a week. As I started seeing results, I began modifying my workout routines. Now I attend the gym twice a week and continue to eat better. I am proud to say I have lost 47lb. I now weigh 139lb., and I am a size 4. Who would have thought I’d be back to my high school weight?
LR: Which classes are your favorites?
IH: HIIT, Tummy Tuck & Butt Lift, and Turbo Kick.
LR: How did you change your diet?
IH: I took out chips, cookies, soda, ice cream, and rice. I started drinking more water everyday.
LR: What’s the hardest part of losing weight? How do you stay motivated to keep going?
IH: You have to want it really bad. Once you start seeing the numbers on the scale go down and your clothes sizes drop, that’s all the motivation you need to keep going.
LR: How do you feel now compared with how you felt when you first started working out?
IH: I feel GREAT! I have more energy.
LR: What words of advice can you give specifically to moms who struggle to find the time to go to the gym?
IH: I am a mom myself. Lucille Roberts is so great in catering to women. They offer babysitting services which allow you to take your kids with you while you are working out. It’s a win-win situation.
LR: What words of encouragement or advice would you offer to other Lucille Roberts ladies who are trying to get in shape?
IH: Look at yourself in the mirror and ask yourself if you’re happy. If you answer NO, make that change! Get focused, dedicated. You have to eat, breathe, and sleep RESULTS. I did it, and I know you can too!! Ladies, don’t give up; don’t say you can’t do it. Always keep focused and maintain the drive. Patience and dedication will lead to success. Every time you think you can’t, you pick yourself back up and remember that you are only failing yourself. You all deserve to be winners! Best of luck to everyone on their weight loss journey!
LR: Congratulations, Iliana! And happy upcoming birthday!
