Why You Should Be Eating More Sweet Potato

Sweet potatoes aren’t only for the yummy casseroles during Thanksgiving.  They’re powerful sources of vitamin A (helps boost immunity and promotes good eye, skin, and bone health) and they have high levels of anti-inflammatory antioxidants.

These orange babies should be high up on your list to help you shed the pounds. Here’s a few more reasons why they rock:

They are high in fiber: A foolproof way to control hunger, foods with fiber help you feel fuller for a longer period of time. One medium-sized sweet potato contains four grams of the nutrient!

They help regulate blood sugar: Sure, sweet potatoes have carbs, but they contain a compound that increases levels of adiponectin, the blood-sugar regulating hormone. They also have a relatively low glycemic index rating (50). Boil or steam them instead of roasting them to maintain sweet potatoes’ low-glycemic properties.

They’re naturally sweet: Satisfying any morning sweet/salty cravings, sweet potatoes make for a healthy, lower-calorie treat!
