There is something about warm weather that makes everyone want to become a social butterfly. This summer, avoid the never-ending temptations that may come your way by training your mind with these tips below:
Rooftop Happy Hour: What a great way to blow off some workday stress with friends on a rooftop while taking in an amazing view. Venting about workplace drama might cause you to overlook how many drinks you are actually consuming especially with the inviting half price options. Try alternating each beverage with a glass of water. Another great tip for wine drinkers is opting for white wine instead of red for less calories.
Weddings: Whether it’s a family member or a close friend, don’t get too swept up in the romance and good time. Over indulging with the open bar and the consistently passed hor’devours can mess up your healthful ways. Eating before hand is the best way to avoid temptation on an empty stomach. Remember to also pace yourself; with all the dancing and great conversation you might be surprised how many drinks you have guzzled down.
Barbeque: Although fun, most BBQ’s can leave you scratching your head if you are health conscious. One way to enjoy the festivities without being a “Debbie Downer” is to bring your own preferred beverage. Not only is it thoughtful, but it helps you out in the long run. From low-calorie beers to sugar-free cocktail mixers you can enjoy a beverage without the guilt. If you are not a big drinker trying bringing a cauliflower “potato” salad or kale chopped salad. Again it’s thoughtful and the host will welcome the additional options.
Beach Party: First and foremost stay hydrated! By drinking lots of water in the hot sun, you will avoid heat exhaustion and stay full at the same time. Avoid sodium packed snacks and go for fruit instead! A chilled fruit salad is a perfect option and won’t leave you feeling bloated. Ditch the soda and opt for seltzer water infused with fruit!
