1. Can you tell us a little bit about yourself?
I am from Long Island City, Queens. My hobbies include playing basketball, softball, handball, listening to music, dancing, shopping and my favorite one: working out!
2. How did you end up working at Lucille Roberts?
I was a member in 1999 and I spent so much time there I applied for a desk girl position in January 2000. I continue to work for Lucille Roberts but now I’m in the corporate office. Soon I will have been a proud Lucille Roberts employee for 13 years!
3. When did you realize you wanted to lose weight?
Well honestly I realized I needed to lose weight 7 years ago as soon as I gave birth to my son. Of course that didn’t go well, so I maintained my “fat” weight till last year. Last year was the year I finally committed to losing weight. I realized if you don’t commit, it will never happen. In order to lose the weight you must want it.
4. Tell us how you lost 50lbs!
Sure! In February 2011 I started working out at Lucille Roberts and I took 2 classes each day, 4 times each week. I also changed my eating habits. I am the pickiest eater and I don’t do well with diet food so I started eliminating some of favorites things like cookies, chocolate, ice cream, rice, regular bread, and pasta. I then began to switch some things up, for example: instead of having a western omelet I would have an egg white western omelet on 100 calorie wheat bread with no potatoes. I also made sure I ate a lot of fruits, a few veggies and most importantly drank a lot of water, 1.5 liters Monday through Friday. On the weekends I would splurge and drink some orange juice and eat one of my favorite 100 calorie ice cream bars.
5. What do you think is the best thing about Lucille Roberts?
There are a lot of great things about Lucille Roberts. Starting with the atmosphere the place provides. It’s such a warm and friendly environment, it makes any woman feel right at home. The staff is so supportive and available to guide you on your fitness path. I love the classes, they are great! Lucille has a variety of great classes for different levels of fitness and different goals. Whether you want to lose weight, tone, strengthen or stretch, it’s all offered by Lucille Roberts. They also have a nice cardio theater where you go for a nice jog on the treadmill as you are watching some TV.
6. What advice do you have for women who are trying to lose weight and meet their fitness goals?
First and foremost I would say ask yourself if you WANT it, if you feel that drive, motivation and hunger to change your life around and lose this weight. If the answer is YES!, then you are definitely ready to make the first step and begin a new chapter in your life. The reward is amazing! Trust me, there is no need to feel scared and doubtful, you can DO IT!!! Once you start, no backing down, no taking breaks, no looking for short cuts, NO EXCUSES! You have to make sure you keep on working out and keep yourself as dedicated as you were the day you decided to make this change for the better. I know there will be down days and days you feel like giving up, it’s only normal since you’re doing something that you’re not used to, but it will only get better. Once you reach your goal you will look back and say, WOW I did it! WOW I really did it! Guess what? You did do it! you had it in you all along to make it happen! And on that note Ladies, don’t waste anymore time, no need to keep feeling sorry for yourself, make it happen!
Good Luck to everyone!!!
