Sometimes it may seem like your elliptical workout isn’t giving you that heart-pumping, dripping sweat finish you want. This can often be because many gyms have a time limit on how long you are able to use the equipment or, perhaps, you might not being taking full-advantage of all the ways you can get a good workout sesh in.
So if you’re crunched for time—or have a ridiculously long line waiting behind you—try these three easy ways to get your sweat on and burn more calories while you’re at it.
Increase the resistance: Upping the resistance on this machine will have you working harder for that toned body you want. You’ll be working slow and steady, but giving more effort will pay off at the end of your workout.
Pick up the pace: Skip watching that Sex and the City re-run and get moving! The slower you go, the harder it will be for you to burn more calories. For the most calorie-burn, you should be moving 140 strides per minute at least.
Use the handles: Many people think that the elliptical will only give your legs a good work out, but your arms are in for a treat too. To get your heart rate up, your legs can’t do all the work. Make sure you are pushing and pulling the handles to give your legs a little relief and give them a decent workout as well.
