We all know that breakfast is the most important meal of the day, but are you doing it right?
Even if you’re a dedicated health and fitness buff or just looking to lose a few pounds, consider these before enjoying your first meal of the day:
1. Eat soon after waking up: Many studies have found that eating breakfast will kick-start your metabolism for that day. Not only that, early morning meals can help ensure that you don’t feel so starved later that usually lead to bad eating habits for lunch and dinner. Make sure you take advantage of your body’s potential by eating a good meal shortly after getting up.
2. Choose filling food: To avoid a midmorning crash, opt for meals that are full of slow-digesting nutrients to help keep you satisfied throughout the morning: high-fiber or high-protein. These options are a good choice to feel full and energized. Also, keep away from sugary foods!
3. Watch your portions: While a big breakfast will definitely fill you up, you don’t want to over do it. Read up on our portion control tips to understand what serving sizes should look like. And here are some portion cutting tips that won’t leave you feeling hungry.
