“Jane the Virgin” Actress, Gina Rodriguez, on Health, Fitness, and Body Positivity

By Alyssa Holder · On June 20, 2016

Beautiful inside and out, Gina Rodriguez is an outstanding, inspirational, genuine soul on and off screen. The Golden Globe winner and actress of the CW’s hit show Jane the Virgin, recently graced the cover of Women’s Health sharing her secrets on how she stays confident, dismisses body shamers and keeps slayin’ the world of Hollywood .

Using her social media as a way to show fans and others that she is just like any other female, Gina is changing the game. She is not flawless and does not claim to be, this 31 year old Latina is paving the way on how we should start loving our bodies and start taking charge of our destiny.

Gina on Boxing: As the daughter of a professional referee, Gina finds and finesses her strength inside the ring. Inside the ring is where she punches, sweats, falls and picks herself up to become a winner. Can we just take a moment to admire her killer arms? In our books she is a champion.

Gina on Body Positivity: “As a woman with hashimotos, (a thyroid condition) my struggle with health and weight and body acceptance in this industry has been a loving, painful, growing, exposing, vulnerable and incredible journey. And to come to a place where I love the skin I am in and it isn’t defined by anyone’s expectations or limitations is beyond freeing.  #LoveYourSkin”   Source- Popsugar Fitness

“Staying true to who you are; not even who you are in the sense that I’ll never get super thin, or I’ll never get plastic surgery. It’s staying true to the comfort of your body, and that’s a personal journey for everyone. To try to look like someone else is impossible. To try to attain something that isn’t meant for your body is impossible.”- Source US Health

Gina on Diet: Battling with hashimotos there are several foods that do not agree with Gina. Some include blueberries and strawberries. Overall she is all about moderation and balance, welcoming all types of food.
