Another year has gone, which means all the health and fitness trends that were once popular in 2016 is a bit outdated. To keep you up to date with the health and fitness trends of 2017, we rounded up our favorites via Popsugar, mindbodygreen and Well + Good.
Let’s see what 2017 has in store for our bodies and minds:
-
Ugly greens are the new “it” food:
According to mindbodygreen, in 2017 blemished fruits and vegetables will be seen more on the shelves of your local stores as consumers become aware of food waste in the U.S. Did you know that approximately 40 percent of food in the United States goes to waste? That’s over 70 billion pounds wasted per year or nearly 250 pounds per person. Ugly greens are fully capable of creating the same delicious dishes as their perfect counterparts, like this springtime salad!
-
Women-only spaces are the new wave in wellness:
Another forecasted trend by mindbodygreen is the popularity of female exclusive spaces. There has been a huge growth in the feminist movement for the past 5 years, but the idea of women-only clubs isn’t new, in fact, they’re pretty old with earliest known roots in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. Take for prime example, Lucille Roberts has been around for 47 years! Serving females only, Lucille Roberts is a health and wellness space they can use to focus and work on themselves, plus be surrounded by amazing women to motivate them too.

Going for the natural makeup look:
We’re loving number 12 on Well + Good’s trends list. Makeup-free enthusiasts are growing vastly, with the Instagram hashtag #nomakeup showing over 12 million fresh-faced results indicating that more women prefer a glowy complexion to covering up. Here are some of our favorite natural products to get you started.
-
Recovery:
High intensity workouts will continue to be popular in 2017 and perhaps even into 2018, but according to Well + Good’s 2017 trends, people are finally focusing on good habits after their gym time. More people are taking the time to recover and learn how important it is to allow their bodies to repair and heal before diving into another HIIT workout. Try these foam rolling exercises your body is sure to love!
-
Dance cardio:
Popsugar’s “6 Workouts You’ll Be Obsessing Over In 2017”, mentions that dance cardio workouts are going to be more popular than ever this year. A workout that spikes the heart rate and doesn’t feel like a traditional workout? We’re in! These classes feel more like a party than they do a workout. Get a taste of dancing it out by trying out our Zumba classes. Keep in mind, you don’t have to be a good dancer to be good at Zumba!
